When the needs are too great, and time too little, the currents pick up force.
When efficiency is too slow, and my maturity to sacrifice short-term pain for long-term gain weakens, I feel the water begin to splash against my face, and the pressure on my chest begin to build.
I grab a branch to pull myself out of the water completely- video games, movies, friends, non-relevant busywork that doesn't matter.
Only to realize that now the river just looks like it is moving even faster, because I am no longer moving with. The change in pace becomes even more stark.
How do I swim downstream and remain calm in the moving water? How does one not fear drowning?
